This is how we are continuing

Habegger | 23 March 2020

We aren’t giving you any craft tips, nor have we launched a toilet paper e-shop. We are also deliberately avoiding the C-word – it already gets enough attention. Today you will "only" receive information on how we are dealing with the current situation and what it means for you when working with us.

For you, nothing changes.

Whether current projects or new enquiries – as always, we go full throttle. If you have any questions, we will help you with advice and support. You can still reach us by phone or email.

What has changed internally at Habegger?

  • We are working from our homes and sticking to the FOPH (Federal Office of Public Health) rules when working on site.
  • At the headquarters in Regensdorf, there is always one employee in the office during office hours.
  • We are working with reduced hours. Some of our employees are affected more than others.

Customer projects are not affected by this. We hope that we will soon be working at full capacity again and can continue to pursue our passion.

Interview with Jürg Schwarz, CEO Habegger AG

19 March 2020

How are you today?

To us, this feels like we made an emergency stop going from 200 to 0 – but we are still at full throttle at the same time. We were very well on track and now we have to reorient ourselves. We bear the responsibility for all our employees and their families. Many freelancers and suppliers are also dependent on us. At the same time, the interests of our shareholders must be safeguarded. They all have questions, fears and need clarity. For me and my core team, the task is now to master this balancing act between the different needs and to develop solutions.

How many events have been cancelled so far?

To date, about 150 events have been cancelled. The number increases daily. But there are also some that have been postponed or reduced. Others we were able to develop into hybrid concepts or carry out with our streaming solution.

How hard has Habegger been hit?

We have been hit hard but we are moving on. We have a very broad base with our various competencies from creation to technical and design implementation. There are many projects in progress that are not yet in danger of being cancelled.

How is the cooperation with customers and partners?

We are experiencing great solidarity from all sides, so the cooperation is going very well. Although we all have the same worries and problems, we are trying to help each other. And things will go back to normal eventually, which is why we are doing everything we can to find fair solutions with our customers, partners, suppliers and freelancers. We are trying to communicate proactively and lend an ear to everyone. In our “Save the Event” campaign, we are negotiating extensively with all our partners and freelancers in order to offer special cancellation conditions. We want our customers to be able to postpone the cancellation of their events even further rather than having to cancel well in advance.

How is the mood in the company?

The situation is welding us tight. It’s great to see how many professionals we have in our team, who are outdoing themselves during the crisis. This gives us stability. As all our employees have been working from home since Monday, regular and transparent communication is all the more important. We are actively informing our employees via our streaming solution, which is very much appreciated. It is important to us for our employees to know that – working reduced hours serves to preserve jobs. We have had a good business year so far, which was only possible thanks to each and every one of us.

How are you feeling about the future?

Full of confidence. Those who know me personally know that I am a very positive person. We are suffering right now, but I also see an opportunity for the future in this. It will result in new ideas and solutions that we would not have come up with otherwise. The support I feel from employees, partners and my private environment gives me great strength.
