Spirit of Bern

For the latest edition of SPIRIT OF BERN 2025, held under the theme “Swiss Healthcare System – What’s Next?”, we were once again on-site as the technical partner at our partner location, the Kursaal Bern.

Thanks to our technical expertise, we ensured that the two event sessions, which shed light on the current developments in the Swiss healthcare system, were perfectly staged. From the innovative technical infrastructure and precisely coordinated show calling, to our project management expertise and high-quality recording, we delivered a seamless technical execution. This made the event a compelling experience for both on-site attendees and those joining via livestream from home.

We first introduced innovative technical approaches during the previous edition in 2024, which was held under the motto “Switzerland’s Energy Future.” From this, we were able to gain new insights and build on them this year.

Technical innovation by knw
The use of knw’s performance technology made it possible to analyse sentiment. Two strategically placed cameras on the main stage continuously captured video data, which was converted into aggregated data every second. This made it possible to establish a continuous connection between the stage actions and the reactions of the audience.
Extract from the technical analyses and trends

Highest attention values: The last part of the event attracted a lot of attention – a sign of a focussed and emotionally appealing presentation.
Lower attention: During the discussion, however, it was not possible to achieve the same level of attention as the speeches. Here, the analyses show that this format was less able to maintain interest.
Demographic distribution: The technical analysis also showed a clear trend in the participant structure: The proportion of male participants was significantly higher, which allows conclusions to be drawn about the choice of topic.

Influence on future event design
Thanks to the data-based insights we have gained, we now have a deeper understanding of the resonance of the various lecture formats. This enables us to plan future events even more specifically, for example by scheduling time slots for particularly attentive phases and further optimising formats. The technique used provides valuable information on when and how breaks should best be integrated in order to maintain the audience’s concentration.
