By order of General de Producciones y Diseño, S.A., we developed and installed an ocean made out of LED, which is now situated in an existing hall on the former “expo” area in Sevilla.
This permanent light installation consists of 14,500 LED´s, which can all be controlled individually and which feed the light into a bundle of optical fibres. The pipes with the bundles of optical fibres have a length between 80 and 180 centimetres. Those elements are distributed in an area of 1000 square metres and installed on a double floor, under which are LED chips. This light is conducted by the optical fibres and steps out at the uninsulated endings of the fibres. As one can only see the light at the top ten centimetres, it looks as if it was a pending, wave-like layer of light.
We also programmed several light shows, which can be played onto the LED ocean. The media control systems allows the client to bring in videos and images in different formats. Further, the media control makes it possible to create video, graphic and data streams in real-time. The “Ocean of LED´s” is also controllable through an iPad. When doing this, the LED´s react to the touches on the screen.
