On the 17th May 2014 the big sports gala «Gymotion – Music and Gymnastics Fascination» took place with 500 contributors in the Hallenstadion Zurich. A colourful show consisting of gymnastics performances, live music and comedy, which was also broadcasted on Swiss Television. Special effects and a lightning show by us added to the entertainment of the more than 11,000 spectators.
It was a complex task to have enough space around the gymnastics area for the athletes and the changes of their gymnastics apparatus and at the same time install enough technology devices for the light and show effects. For the technology should not intrude when the gymnastics apparatus had to be brought in our put away in between the individual performances.
The lighting operator had to deal with a particularly tight time schedule: it was at the rehearsal when he finally saw how he would have to light the show; that is what happens in which part of the show or where, e.g. how high an athlete jumps or how far a formation expands on the surface.
